The 9th National Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language (NSSHL) will be hosted by the Spanish Heritage Track at Florida State University from Thursday, February 24th to Saturday, February 26th. This year, the symposium will be held in person following the regular format of keynotes, conference presentations, academic panels, and workshops to allow attendees to share ideas about the different aspects of Spanish heritage language teaching and research.
We welcome presentations and panels in Spanish or English from a wide range of topics within the study of Spanish as a heritage language, including heritage language acquisition, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, applied linguistics, cultural studies, K-12, and higher education; both theoretical and practical approaches are encouraged.
Accepted presentations will be delivered in person in the traditional format of 20 minute presentations with 10 minutes for questions (for a total of 30 minutes).
Proposals, in Spanish or English, should consist of an anonymized abstract containing the presentation or panel's title (300 words maximum excluding references, tables, figures, and title).
The call for proposals is now closed.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM EST on November 4th, 2021. Authors will be notified of acceptance by December 2021.
